Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 17 (NationPress) In response to the National Herald ruling, Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar expressed that the Judiciary has delivered a significant message to the BJP and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by dismissing politically charged cases.
After leading a demonstration at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, Shivakumar remarked, "I am pleased that the Court chose to disregard the ED's charge sheet. The ED's reputation has diminished due to its misuse of authority. Ultimately, truth has triumphed, and I extend my gratitude to the Judiciary for this outcome."
When asked if he felt targeted for supporting the Gandhi family, he responded, “They are attempting to intimidate us with their vendetta politics. They wish to incarcerate us, yet I have experienced jail. Nothing in politics is permanent; the entire nation stands with us today.”
On the topic of renaming MGNREGA, he asserted, “They cannot erase Mahatma Gandhi’s name. Let them remove Gandhi’s image from the currency notes. The BJP aims to obliterate Mahatma Gandhi's legacy, but they will not succeed.”
Regarding opposition protests against misleading information about the Gruha Laxmi funds, he stated, “If they are so assured, they can introduce a Privilege Motion in the House. If they have any respect, they should address MGNREGA, the shortage of funds for irrigation projects, and the central allocations for the Jal Jivan Mission. The government disburses funds based on availability. There may occasionally be delays, but the funds will eventually reach them.”
Earlier, during a protest outside Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar criticized the BJP for its vendetta politics, asserting that the Congress party cannot be undermined by conspiracies.
“Vendetta politics is the modus operandi of the BJP. The National Herald is a national asset, and the Court’s ruling has demonstrated that the BJP’s fabricated cases are unsustainable. The BJP cannot defeat us through conspiracy,” he declared.
“This marks the conclusion of the BJP's conspiracy and a victory for democracy. The National Herald case represents a loss of face for the BJP and a triumph for the Congress party. They plotted to incarcerate Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. This vendetta politics needs to cease. We must bolster the positions of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi,” the Deputy CM emphasized.
“This is a victory for truth. Our leader Jawaharlal Nehru initiated the National Herald in 1937 to amplify the voice of the populace. This asset belongs to the Congress party, and by default, the President of the Congress party becomes a shareholder. However, the BJP is attempting to imply that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have made this their personal possession,” he articulated.
“As the KPCC President, I chair the Trust, and the CM is also a trustee. Does that imply that Congress Bhawan becomes our personal asset? It belongs to the Trust. There are numerous properties within that Trust. Whoever succeeds me will assume the role of Trust Chairman,” he added.
“The Delhi Police issued a notice to my brother and me for donating money to the National Herald. This is my hard-earned money, and I am free to donate it to whomever I choose. The ED filed a PMLA case against me, but the Supreme Court has dismissed it. Likewise, the Court has declared that the case against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is irrelevant,” he concluded.
“They disqualified Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha for his remarks in Kolar. Has there ever been such a gross misuse of power? He regained his MP status due to Court intervention,” he noted.
“Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi could have been the Prime Ministers of this nation, but they chose to sacrifice that opportunity. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi gave their lives for the country. The sacrifices made by the Gandhi family for the nation are immeasurable,” he argued.
