Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, April 20 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, stated on Monday that the state administration would hold accountable anyone involved in the ‘unrestrained multi-crore corruption’ linked to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation initiative.
Following his tour of the Medigadda barrage, a segment of the project located in the Jayashankar Bhupalapally district, the Chief Minister affirmed that all those culpable would face legal consequences.
He informed the press that the government would implement strategic measures should the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) attempt to shield itself from corruption allegations by collaborating with the BJP.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission had already delivered a detailed report concerning the misappropriation of funds.
He asserted that aware of the impending inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project, BRS leader T. Harish Rao hurried to Delhi to negotiate with BJP officials. Despite media scrutiny, no statements have been made on this by them, CM Revanth Reddy claimed, urging Harish Rao to reveal the specifics of his clandestine discussions with BJP leaders.
Reddy criticized the BJP-led Union Government for neglecting to initiate a CBI investigation into the Kaleshwaram project, despite repeated requests from the state government. He recalled that a resolution was sent to the Centre seeking a CBI inquiry into this issue.
Additionally, he remarked that Union Minister Kishan Reddy had insisted that the Kaleshwaram case be handed over to the CBI, yet the Centre has remained unresponsive.
He also took a jab at BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for organizing a public gathering on the same day as his official delegation's visit to Medigadda.
Reddy revealed that a meeting with officials and technical advisors had been arranged a month prior.
The CM reiterated the government's commitment to executing repairs at the Kaleshwaram project.
“We will not abandon this project; rather, we will finalize all necessary repairs to ensure water supply for drinking and irrigation,” he stated.
The Chief Minister criticized KCR for neglecting the multi-crore project, revealing that the Medigadda barrage had collapsed in 2023.
The former BRS administration concealed the realities and attempted to leverage political gain during the 2023 elections, but nature revealed the truth. The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) provided its preliminary findings on November 1, 2023, during KCR's tenure, yet the BRS government chose to ignore it.
CM Reddy accused KCR of terminating the Pranahita-Chevella project, which lacked economic or political advantages for him.
