Hyderabad, March 5 (NationPress) Renowned playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar on Wednesday refuted claims of a suicide attempt at her residence in Hyderabad.

Kalpana revealed to the police that she had consumed an excessive amount of insomnia medication due to her struggles with sleep, which stemmed from disagreements with her daughter regarding her education.

As per the KPHB police, Kalpana and her husband have been residing in a home located in Nizampet within KPHB for the past five years.

On March 3, a conflict arose between Kalpana and her daughter Daya Prasad regarding educational choices, as Kalpana wished for her daughter to study in Hyderabad, a proposal Daya opposed.

Kalpana stated that she returned from Ernakulam on Tuesday (March 4) and despite her attempts, sleep eluded her. 'I took eight tablets but still couldn't sleep. I ended up taking another ten tablets and lost consciousness. I am unaware of what transpired afterward,' she explained.

Authorities mentioned that when Kalpana's husband Prasad could not reach her via phone, he alerted local welfare members. They contacted the police, who then forced entry into the house and discovered her unconscious in the bedroom. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

Once she regained consciousness, Kalpana clarified to the police that she did not attempt suicide and emphasized that no one else was involved in the incident. She acknowledged taking an excessive amount of sleeping pills following a dispute with her daughter about her education.

At the hospital, Daya Prasad addressed the media, stating that her mother did not try to take her life but rather experienced a minor overdose of insomnia pills due to stress.

'Please refrain from distorting any information. Our family is doing great. My parents are happy, and I am happy too. My mother is recovering and will return home soon,' Daya expressed.

Kalpana began her singing career at the young age of five and has since recorded over 1,500 songs across multiple languages, such as Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil.
