Opposition Leaders Urge to Overlook Kangana's Comments on Rahul Gandhi
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) The uproar ignited by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut's comments regarding the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, shows no signs of subsiding. On Thursday, numerous Opposition figures accused the actress of attempting to attract attention, suggesting it would be prudent to disregard "individuals like Kangana."
The political dispute began when Ranaut, on the previous day, launched a scathing critique of LoP Gandhi, asserting that his conduct in Parliament creates discomfort for women, drawing a contrast to his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, whom she described as "graceful."
The BJP MP asserted that Gandhi exhibits a “tapori-like” demeanor within the Parliament premises and suggested he should take etiquette lessons from his sister.
Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat accused Ranaut of attempting to fill the shoes of former BJP MP Smriti Irani. "She is seeking media attention and the focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP," he remarked.
In a statement to IANS, he added, "Reacting to Kangana Ranaut's comments is disrespectful. She makes statements that are nonsensical."
Bhagat further commented, "Those residing in glass houses should refrain from casting stones at others."
Purnia MP Pappu Yadav echoed similar sentiments, stating, "Just ignore individuals like Kangana."
NCP(SP) MP Fauzia Khan found it humorous that someone like Kangana, who is part of the film industry, would make such remarks about a respected leader, saying one can only laugh it off.
Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai expressed that no one takes the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi seriously.
He told IANS, “Her way of speaking makes both the media and the House uncomfortable, which is why we do not regard her seriously. Even the media does not take her seriously. Someone who claims that the country gained independence in 2014 demonstrates a lack of understanding.”
In response, the BJP criticized LoP Gandhi for his lack of seriousness in his role.
Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi stated to IANS, "Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, both inside and outside the Lok Sabha, lack gravity. The Congress is the principal Opposition party in the nation, and as its leader, his conduct falls short of expectations for the Leader of Opposition."
He continued, "In the midst of a war, his statements are not in line with national interests. In his quest to oppose the BJP, he inadvertently opposes the country."
Saraogi asserted that the Congress party is in a state of chaos.
He claimed, "Senior Congress leaders are defecting to the BJP, party MLAs were involved in cross-voting during the recent Rajya Sabha elections, and many were absent. All these issues stem from Rahul Gandhi's conduct."
