New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) A political storm erupted following BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s comments regarding Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. On Wednesday, multiple Congress leaders responded fiercely, accusing the actress-turned-politician of making inflammatory remarks to maintain her political relevance.
Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the Punjab Congress President, criticized Ranaut, asserting that Gandhi's role in Parliament should not be compared to the entertainment industry. “How does she perceive that they come across like thugs? Rahul Gandhi is not here to act in a film. She might assume Parliament is akin to a studio where one must be impeccably dressed and polished,” Warring stated to IANS in reaction to her comments.
Warring further claimed that Ranaut persistently targets Gandhi because she feels neglected by the BJP. “She continuously brings up Rahul because she believes the BJP has forgotten her and that her relevance is dwindling. She thinks that by attacking Rahul, she can remain in the limelight,” he added.
Taking a jab at her acting career, Warring remarked, “Now even her Bollywood ventures are failing, both there and here. To keep her relevance alive, she resorts to making remarks about Rahul.”
Congress MP Jothimani also condemned Ranaut, emphasizing that celebrity status or fashionable attire does not equate to good character. “This reflects Kangana Ranaut’s true character. Just because someone is well-dressed or famous does not imply they are a decent person. This is the standard of politics she engages in, thus she lacks the stature to criticize Rahul Gandhi,” she expressed.
Congress MLA Aslam Sheikh also voiced strong disapproval of Ranaut's comments, suggesting she should examine her own history before casting judgment on others.
“Kangana should reflect on her own past; no need to dig deep. A simple search on Google will reveal her previous actions and habits,” Sheikh remarked.
He further criticized the BJP for nominating her, stating, “When a party grants a ticket, it usually reviews a candidate’s past contributions and character. I commend the BJP for endorsing Kangana after viewing her past videos. What else can one expect from them? Such statements will persist,” he concluded.
These reactions followed Ranaut's sharp critique of Gandhi, alleging that his conduct in Parliament makes women uncomfortable and unfavorably comparing him to his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
The BJP MP accused Gandhi of behaving in a “tapori-like” fashion within the Parliament premises and suggested he should learn decorum from his sister.
