Has Opposition Crossed All Limits? Entire Country Ashamed of Parliament Events, Says Kangana Ranaut
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday criticized the Opposition for exceeding all acceptable boundaries. She expressed that not only is Parliament suffering, but the whole nation feels ashamed of the current events taking place within the House.
This statement follows ongoing chaos in Parliament, where the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, referenced excerpts from the unpublished memoir of former Army Chief M.M. Naravane. The Opposition has consistently claimed they are being denied the opportunity to voice their concerns in Parliament.
Addressing reporters outside Parliament, Ranaut remarked, “The Opposition has truly crossed all limits. It’s not just Parliament that’s affected; the entire nation is in disgrace. You witnessed how Rahul Gandhi brought an unauthorized book here yesterday, tarnishing the reputation of the judiciary. Penguin Publishing House has now declared it entirely illegal and unauthorized.”
She further asserted that even members of the Opposition’s own parties were feeling embarrassed by these actions. Pointing to the various incidents occurring inside the House, she mentioned that the Opposition seems to be specifically targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I believe even their own party members feel ashamed. They are plotting against PM Modi. The manner in which they tore papers and threw them at the Speaker, then climbed on the table—if they can do this, what’s to stop them from snatching papers from PM Modi and throwing them at him? We demand guarantees to ensure the Prime Minister’s safety,” she added.
Describing the situation as serious, Ranaut indicated that such behavior is intolerable, questioning what dignity would remain in Parliament if this trend continues.
“This is crucial. If they attempt to snatch papers from the Prime Minister or push him, placing women MPs in front as shields, what dignity will be left for this country and Parliament? We need clarity on this matter,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the second time just six minutes after reconvening, as the Opposition continued to disrupt discussions regarding the Union Budget.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed to the Congress MPs, who shouted slogans of 'We want justice', to allow the discussion to proceed, as members were eager to present their views on the Union Budget.
“Yesterday, we pleaded with the Congress party to engage in discussions about the Union Budget. Shashi Tharoor was mentioned, and every party submitted their list of speakers... Everyone wants to contribute, but Congress refuses to initiate dialogue. They disrupt the proceedings daily by entering the Well of the House,” he noted.
