New Delhi, July 29 (NationPress) DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi fiercely criticized the BJP-led Central government in Parliament on Monday, raising serious questions regarding its response to the Pahalgam terror attack and highlighting issues of intelligence failures and a lack of accountability.
During the Lok Sabha discussion on the Pahalgam massacre and Operation Sindoor, Kanimozhi reminded the BJP that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was the first to organize a peace rally in support of the victims.
"We appreciate the BJP for including Opposition MPs in delegations sent overseas for outreach. However, it is disheartening that such an attack occurred, necessitating those delegations," stated the DMK leader, who participated in one of the delegations.
Kanimozhi referred to intelligence warnings from RAW and the Intelligence Bureau, demanding to know why no preventive measures were taken.
"Learn some humility from your predecessor," she remarked, directing her comments at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Has the PM ever apologized to the victims' families? Why was action not taken when intelligence agencies flagged potential terror activities? A US cybersecurity firm revealed that a Pakistani company was seeking detailed maps of Jammu and Kashmir, indicating premeditated reconnaissance," she pointed out.
Furthermore, Kanimozhi questioned the growing communal rhetoric from ruling party members.
"We stood by you and the armed forces after Operation Sindoor, providing support on global platforms. Back then, you didn’t question our religion. So why has your politics become so divisive? Why are BJP ministers engaging in hate speech, and has there been any accountability?" she inquired.
In her address, the Thoothukudi MP also briefly mentioned two issues relevant to Tamil Nadu, including delays in releasing the final report of the Keeladi excavation findings.
She accused the Centre of selectively withholding information that could underscore Tamil Nadu’s historical significance and demanded transparency and urgency.
Kanimozhi’s remarks arise amidst escalating tensions between the BJP and southern Opposition parties concerning national security and federal relations.
Although her speech was met with loud protests from the treasury benches, she remained steadfast, emphasizing the need for accountability and unity during crisis situations.
