Karnataka BJP Criticizes Congress Government for Assisting Maoists' Surrender

Bengaluru, Jan 8 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP General Secretary and MLA V. Sunil Kumar expressed strong disapproval of the Siddaramaiah government on Wednesday for its role in the surrender of six Maoists, asserting that this action aims to cultivate urban naxals. Speaking to reporters, Sunil Kumar, who represents the Karkala Assembly constituency, known for Maoist activities, deemed this situation alarming. He stated, "This is a strategy to convert Maoists who operate in remote forests into urban naxals. For years, officers from the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) have worked tirelessly against these groups, and such developments will only undermine their spirit."
"The organization named Shantigaagi Naagarikara Vedike, which is overseeing the surrender process, is affiliated with urban naxals. Moreover, the government has introduced financial incentives for those who surrender," he added.
"The Maoists have insisted on being treated with respect and dignity. In the regions of Udupi and Chikkamagaluru, they have resorted to violence against farmers and have unjustly attacked police forces. This forum did not voice any concerns when Maoists murdered six security personnel in Chhattisgarh. When Maoist Vikram Gowda was confronted in Karnataka, members of the same organization expressed sympathy for him and called for an inquiry into the incident," Sunil Kumar remarked.
"Furthermore, the forum members are facilitating the surrender of the remaining naxals. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is swayed by a group of progressive thinkers surrounding him. These individuals will merely transition into urban naxals. The government is offering packages of Rs 14 lakh, Rs 8 lakh, and Rs 4 lakh to those who surrender," he asserted.
“We have garnered the support of the people in the Maoist-affected regions by implementing various development initiatives. The government must prioritize development efforts,” he concluded.
On Wednesday, six Maoists operating in Karnataka's coastal and hilly regions emerged from the forests in Chikkamagaluru district to surrender before Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The Maoists are expected to arrive in Bengaluru at 3 p.m. and have a meeting scheduled with CM Siddaramaiah at his official residence, Krishna, in Bengaluru to formally surrender.
The Shantigaagi Naagarikara Vedike is facilitating this surrender process. The Maoists include Mundagaru Latha from Mundagaru in Sringeri, Vanajakshi from Balehoe in Kalasa, Sundari from Kuntaluru near Mangaluru, Marappa Aroli from Raichur, Vasantha T. from Tamil Nadu, and N. Jeesha from Kerala.
