Congress High Command to Decide Karnataka Cabinet Reshuffle, Says CM Siddaramaiah
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka), April 12 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that there is no issue with state MLAs pursuing Ministerial roles by traveling to New Delhi. He emphasized that the authority to decide on the Cabinet reshuffle lies exclusively with the Congress high command.
Speaking to reporters at the N.R. Pura travelers' bungalow on Sunday, he addressed inquiries about the visits of Ministerial aspirants to New Delhi, reiterating that such actions are not problematic.
"The Cabinet reshuffle is awaiting action. The delays could be attributed to the election schedules in five states and the ongoing Budget session," he mentioned.
When asked about potential resignations within the Congress party, the Chief Minister clarified that his political secretary Naseer Ahmed has not yet resigned, although he may in the future.
Siddaramaiah asserted that the Congress party is not defeated and remains confident in securing victory in the forthcoming Assembly bypolls in Karnataka.
"Wins and losses in elections are not justifications for taking actions against individuals. Salim Ahmed is a party leader whose remarks were merely expressing concern over anti-party activities during the Davanagere South by-election. He did not imply that the Congress would lose. Regardless of such activities, the party will prevail," the Chief Minister stated.
He highlighted that the construction of a bridge in Narasimharajapura was a longstanding demand, expressing his satisfaction that the foundation stone has been laid and the project is proceeding during his administration. No initiatives were taken for this bridge during the BJP rule, he noted.
In response to accusations that the state government is granting resort permits in the Malnad area while neglecting land rights for forest dwellers, CM Siddaramaiah confirmed that a meeting is forthcoming to address forest rights and related matters.
Regarding criticisms from Kerala claiming that Karnataka is unsafe for tourists, the Chief Minister affirmed that the unfortunate death of a girl from Kerala in Chikkamagaluru will be thoroughly investigated, but it is misleading to claim that Karnataka poses a danger to tourists.
