Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 24 (NationPress) In response to the protests by government job seekers in Dharwad, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has emphasized the importance of prioritizing education while promising expedited recruitment processes.
In an official announcement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, "I urge all aspirants to maintain their focus on education, skill development, and preparation with perseverance and confidence. The youth of Karnataka are the builders of our tomorrow. Your dedication inspires us. My government is committed to supporting you actively. We will work to broaden opportunities, safeguard your aspirations, and ensure public service is a noble and accessible path for every eligible young individual," he remarked.
He assured that the process to fill the outstanding vacancies is underway and will be intensified in a transparent, structured, and timely manner. "We are implementing all necessary administrative and policy measures to recruit for more positions in the near future and to enhance recruitment institutions to avoid similar backlogs in the future," he added.
Regarding the ongoing protests, CM Siddaramaiah expressed his understanding of the anxiety and frustration faced by job aspirants. "Each application represents a dream, a family's hope, and a long journey of hard work aimed at serving Karnataka. I want every student to know that your voices are being heard, and your future is of utmost importance to us," he reassured.
He pointed out that when they took office, over 2.64 lakh government positions were unfilled, attributing this backlog to the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government’s inaction regarding timely recruitments.
CM Siddaramaiah criticized the opposition BJP for attempting to mislead students for their political gains, stating, "Instead of motivating aspirants to concentrate on their education and future, they are trying to incite unrest."
He mentioned that the current situation is a result of a series of recruitment irregularities and corruption scandals from 2019 to 2023, which diminished trust in the recruitment system and caused significant backlogs. "Our government is dedicated to reinstating credibility, transparency, and stability in the recruitment process," he affirmed.
Additionally, he noted that several recruitment processes were paused due to legal challenges related to internal reservations. "As a government committed to upholding constitutional integrity and social justice, we opted for a responsible approach rather than hastily making decisions that could endanger the futures of thousands of candidates," he observed.
Despite these challenges, he reassured that the state government has acted with determination and integrity. "In just the past 2.5 years, we have completed over 40,000 job recruitments across various departments. We recognize that many job seekers have experienced lengthy delays through no fault of their own. To address this, we have extended the age limit by over five years for upcoming recruitments, ensuring that deserving candidates are not unfairly excluded due to systemic delays," he concluded.
