Kalaburagi (Karnataka), April 7 (NationPress) An alarming case has emerged involving a guest teacher at a primary school accused of raping a minor student in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka on Monday.

The shocking incident was reported from the Madana Hipparaga police station in the Aland taluk of the district.

As per police reports, the teacher, hired as a guest faculty member at the village primary school, sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl who was a student there. The accused allegedly forced his way into the girl’s home when she was alone to carry out the crime.

Following a formal complaint, authorities have registered a case under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and apprehended the suspect.

The teacher had been employed at the school for two years, while the victim was enrolled in Class 8.

At the time of the incident, the victim's mother had left her alone at home to study for exams and had gone to her parents' residence with her other children to celebrate the Ugadi festival.

The accused reportedly committed the crime after realizing that the victim's father was also away from the village for work, making her vulnerable.

The teacher allegedly followed her home after school, entered her residence, professed his love for her, and then perpetrated the crime.

This incident occurred on March 28, and the girl experienced health issues afterward. She was subsequently taken to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Kalaburagi city. Upon learning about the sexual assault, her father lodged a complaint with the police. Ongoing investigations are underway, and more information is expected to surface regarding this case.

On November 27, 2024, the School Education and Literacy Department had suspended a male teacher from a government school in the outskirts of Bengaluru after his arrest under the Pocso Act, following complaints from the parents of six girl students about sexual harassment.
