Bengaluru, May 2 (NationPress) Following the shocking daylight assassination of a Hindu activist in Mangaluru, the BJP unit in Karnataka has accused the Congress government of steering the state toward a situation similar to that of Kashmir.
During a press conference, BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra remarked, "With the memories of the massacre of Hindus in Kashmir still vivid, the brutal murder of a Hindu activist in Mangaluru indicates that the Congress administration is leading Karnataka into a Kashmir-like predicament. The persistent assaults, attacks, and killings of Hindus across the state have raised profound alarm among the populace."
The heinous murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru has left civil society reeling, he added.
Vijayendra called for the urgent intervention of Governor Thawarchand Gehlot to safeguard the state from rampant lawlessness.
He extended his condolences for the deceased and strength to Suhas's family to cope with this devastating loss.
Expressing his dismay, he stated, "The alarming sight of communal extremists targeting Hindus in broad daylight raises a troubling question - what sort of society are we living in?"
Alleging that Suhas's murder was premeditated, he demanded a comprehensive investigation to ascertain whether this incident resulted from a failure of intelligence or the negligence of those responsible for maintaining order.
Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa commented, "The brutal murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, who was attacked in broad daylight with deadly weapons, is profoundly disturbing. The audacity of such criminals reflects the degrading law and order situation. I urge the state government to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators."
"I pray for the departed soul to find peace and extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. I also wish for a rapid recovery for the other Hindu activist receiving treatment in the hospital after the assault," he continued.
Suhas was attacked by a group armed with machetes and swords. The assailants, who arrived in two vehicles, targeted him while he was traveling in his car with companions within the Bajpe police station area.
Shetty was affiliated with Bajrang Dal and was the main suspect in the murder of Mohammad Fazil, a resident of Suratkal. Shetty and his associates allegedly murdered Fazil in public on July 28, 2022, as retaliation for the killing of BJP activist Praveen Kumar Nettaru.
Nettaru, a BJP worker, was brutally killed during the peak of the 'hijab' controversy.
