Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Sabotaging Delhi's Welfare Programs

New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) The chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, asserted on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making efforts to disrupt significant welfare programs established by the Delhi government. These programs encompass a monthly cash assistance of Rs 2,100 for women and complimentary healthcare services for the elderly.
During a press conference, he alleged that investigations are being launched against these programs at the behest of the BJP to hinder their execution.
Kejriwal raised concerns about the motives behind these investigations, emphasizing that these initiatives form part of AAP's electoral promises. "What is there to investigate? These are our commitments to the people, which BJP now intends to obstruct under the pretext of inquiries," he stated.
He accused the BJP, in collusion with Congress, of attempting to undermine AAP's administration. "When the BJP lacked the courage, they enlisted Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit to file complaints with the Lieutenant Governor," Kejriwal remarked.
He assured the residents of Delhi that he would strive to uphold these programs, encouraging them to sign up for the benefits.
The Delhi government had recently initiated two prominent welfare schemes – Rs 2,100 monthly for women under the Mahila Samman Yojana and free healthcare for the elderly via the Sanjeevani Yojana. Kejriwal noted the tremendous response to these initiatives, with lakhs of individuals registering in a brief period, which he claimed has left the BJP "frustrated."
According to Kejriwal, the BJP's central agenda in Delhi is to obstruct these welfare initiatives. "If you support the BJP, they will eliminate benefits such as free bus transport for women, free electricity, and water," he cautioned.
He also claimed that the BJP would hinder the launch of the Sanjeevani Yojana, denying the elderly access to free medical care.
Kejriwal pointed out that many residents of Delhi, especially from low-income backgrounds, rely on these welfare programs, which provide free electricity, water, quality education, and healthcare. "If the BJP gains power, these vital services will be withdrawn, compelling numerous impoverished families to vacate the city," he warned.
Reflecting on past obstacles faced in implementing initiatives like free bus travel and the establishment of quality public schools, Kejriwal stated that his government has overcome various challenges. "We fought for free electricity, water, and education, and we will continue to fight for the realization of these new programs as well," he declared.
