Devendra Yadav Critiques Kejriwal's Empty Promises as Congress Launches 'Pyari Didi Yojana'

New Delhi, Jan 6 (NationPress) Right after the announcement of the 'Pyari Didi Yojana', the Delhi Congress president, Devendra Yadav, directed a sharp criticism at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that the AAP government has been making false promises and failing to address the citizens' requirements.

The Congress party introduced the 'Pyari Didi Yojana', which pledges a monthly aid of Rs 2,500 to women in Delhi, contingent on the party's success in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

This initiative is inspired by comparable programs such as Madhya Pradesh's 'Ladli Behna Yojana' and is perceived as the Congress' response to the AAP's proposed 'Mahila Samman Yojana'.

In remarks to IANS, Yadav stated, "The credibility of the AAP has significantly diminished. The disparity between their commitments and their actual implementation is evident in both Delhi and Punjab. In Punjab, AAP pledged Rs 1,000 per month for women 34 months ago, and now, women are seeking justice at Kejriwal's doorstep. We have consistently maintained that Kejriwal can only make announcements, but he fails when it comes to actual execution."

Yadav further remarked, "While he moves around with tight security, he shows no concern for the impoverished in the slums. The Congress will empower every woman with Rs 2,500 monthly to help families manage inflation and unemployment, which is essential in today's economic climate."

The Congress leader also criticized Kejriwal regarding the findings of a recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, which disclosed lavish spending on the renovation of the Chief Minister's residence, often referred to as the 'Sheesh Mahal' by the BJP.

"Rs 33 crore is spent on just one residence, and multiple violations occurred during the process. When evaluating the land costs, demolished buildings, and additional hidden expenses, this scandal amounts to several hundred crores. This is merely one of the many fraudulent activities Kejriwal is implicated in," Yadav concluded.

Previously, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of extravagant expenses on his official residence, referencing the CAG report, which indicated that over Rs 33.66 crore had been allocated for renovations as of 2022, with the final expenditure remaining uncertain.

Sachdeva asserted that Kejriwal, in conjunction with the Public Works Department (PWD), engaged in questionable practices to finance the renovation.

"The actual cost could be significantly higher when we consider missing inventory and additional costs from 2023 and 2024," Sachdeva alleged.
