Kejriwal's Promise of Rs 2,100 for Women in Delhi Remains Unfulfilled: State Congress Leader

New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi next year, State Congress President Devender Yadav on Tuesday condemned former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for his announcement last week that every registered woman in Delhi would receive a monthly sum of Rs 1,000, which is promised to rise to Rs 2,100 after the elections.
Yadav further criticized Kejriwal for failing to fulfill AAP's previous electoral commitment to send Rs 1,000 to women in Punjab, a promise made three years ago.
Commenting on AAP's strategy to attract female voters ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Kejriwal stated: "To access this benefit, women must register, and once registered, the funds will be directly transferred to their bank accounts."
In relation to preparations for the Assembly elections in Delhi, Devender Yadav mentioned, "We have declared 21 candidates. A meeting was convened on Tuesday to discuss this matter. In that meeting, it was decided to establish a war and control room to ensure a fair and transparent election process. This room will address any election-related issues. Additionally, discussions were held with all candidates regarding their participation in the forthcoming Assembly elections."
He added, "In the announcement of party candidates, all segments of society have been considered. The party has nominated women and youth. By next week, another list of candidates will be released, featuring a significant number of individuals."
When asked about the Aam Aadmi Party's chief Kejriwal discussing the proposal of providing Rs 2,100 to women, the State Congress Chief replied, "They (AAP) are talking about offering Rs 1,000, yet they are applying for Rs 2,100. This is the same party that pledged Rs 1,000 to women in Punjab three years ago. The women there are still awaiting Kejriwal to deposit Rs 1,000 into their bank accounts. In this context, it is uncertain when Arvind Kejriwal might retract his promises."
Regarding the shared stage of Samajwadi Party National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav with Arvind Kejriwal, the Congress leader stated, "The Congress party is contesting the Delhi elections independently and we are fully prepared for it. What direction the party takes will soon become clear."
