Kejriwal Vows Rs 2,100 Monthly Aid for Women in Delhi if AAP Secures Victory, BJP Critiques with ‘Lollipop’ Remark

New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal revealed on Thursday that every woman in the capital will receive a monthly financial aid of Rs 1,000, which is set to increase to Rs 2,100 if the party is elected in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
This significant announcement, seemingly inspired by similar programs in other states, comes just days before the Assembly elections in the capital, scheduled for February of next year.
Kejriwal further explained that the initiative, referred to as the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’, has received approval from the Delhi cabinet, facilitating the increase of the monthly assistance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,100.
While addressing the public, the AAP leader mentioned that since the election dates are expected to be declared in the capital shortly, the transfer of funds cannot occur at this moment. However, the registration process for women to access the benefits of this scheme will commence from tomorrow.
To qualify for this benefit, women must register, after which the funds will be directly deposited into their bank accounts.
It is important to note that AAP is contesting the upcoming elections independently, having ruled out any alliances with the Congress party. The leadership is currently navigating a challenging situation amid controversies related to various scandals, including liquorgate and sheeshmahal, as they aim to persuade voters regarding their commitment to ‘clean politics’ and secure a fourth consecutive term.
Following the public declaration, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi referred to it as ‘Kejriwal’s guarantee’ and congratulated the residents of the city.
“Arvind Kejriwal had committed to providing a monthly stipend of ₹ 1000 to every woman in Delhi. Today, the Delhi government has delivered on this promise. Now, if his government is reinstated, every woman in Delhi will receive ₹ 2100 per month. This is Kejriwal's guarantee, and it will undoubtedly be fulfilled,” Atishi shared on X.
Shortly after AAP’s announcement of the ‘poll sop’, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) derided the move as an attempt to win public favor with offers of 'lollipops'.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva remarked, “This is merely a lollipop as elections approach.”
“You need to clarify who is currently governing Punjab. You made a similar promise there, yet no one received any support,” he criticized.
