Panaji, Oct 4 (NationPress) The national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, sharply criticized both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Opposition Congress in Goa, accusing them of being "hand in glove" in the exploitation of the state’s resources.
Kejriwal made these remarks during the inauguration of a party office in Mayem, located 16 km from Panaji. He alleged that over the last sixty years, a mere 13 to 14 families have consistently dominated the government and its operations in Goa. "These two parties contest elections solely for their families and to plunder Goa, not for the benefit of the public," he declared, emphasizing that the citizens of Goa have "no involvement" in the governance.
The AAP leader claimed that Goa's Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, has intentions to nominate his wife for the Mayem Assembly constituency in the forthcoming elections, questioning why a regular party member isn't being considered for the ticket. "We will not endorse any leader's spouse or relative as a candidate," Kejriwal stated, accusing both the Congress and BJP of perpetuating a "dynasty rule".
He highlighted the frequent party defections, noting that leaders often switch allegiance to the ruling party after the government is formed.
Kejriwal posed a critical question to the public: Should a few families control the government or should it be the people? He shared information he reportedly received during a flight to Goa, alleging that Goa Congress president Amit Patkar possesses mining operations in the state and cannot manage them without the endorsement of CM Sawant.
"Both parties conspire to exploit state resources. They profit from their joint ventures, making fools of the populace," the AAP leader contended. The former Delhi Chief Minister lamented that the residents of Goa are deprived of essential services like hospitals, schools, and quality roads.
"These community issues can be addressed using public funds, which are currently lining the pockets of these two parties," he claimed, calling upon citizens to prepare for systemic change in Goa.
Earlier, AAP leader Atishi expressed optimism that the AAP would seize power in Goa during the 2027 Assembly elections, asserting that the public has turned against the current BJP governance.
She alleged that ordinary citizens hesitate to approach BJP MLAs with their concerns as the legislators "intimidate the public." Atishi promised that an AAP government would implement a 'Delhi model' of governance in Goa, allowing citizens to "safely and freely" reach out to their representatives.
