Thiruvananthapuram, July 11 (NationPress) The BJP's Kerala chapter has unveiled a redesigned state committee, signifying a significant organizational overhaul led by the newly appointed state president and former Union Minister of State, Rajeev Chandrasekhar. This newly formed team embodies a blend of youth, seasoned experience, and fresh faces, suggesting a strategic move to reinvent the party's internal framework within the state.

The Kerala BJP has long struggled with factionalism, with former Union Minister of State V. Muraleedharan considered a key player. Interestingly, this time around, none of his known close allies have been appointed as general secretaries, marking a notable shift in the party's hierarchy.

In a surprising turn, former BJP state president P.K. Krishnadas, who had been on the sidelines recently, seems to have regained ground, with several of his close associates now part of the new committee.

Among the four newly appointed general secretaries, only M.T. Ramesh remains from the outgoing team. Ramesh expressed, “It’s recognition for me,” acknowledging his reappointment.

The other three general secretaries include dynamic leader Sobha Surendran, S. Suresh, and Anoop Antony, all new to this significant role.

In a media interaction, Sobha Surendran emphasized that the party, under its new leadership, is diligently striving to enhance its presence in the state, with her role being a substantial responsibility.

A remarkable addition to the list of ten vice-presidents is R. Sreelekha, Kerala’s first female police officer to attain the rank of Director General of Police. Additionally, Shaun George has been promoted to vice-president only 17 months after joining the party, having merged his party with the BJP last year, alongside his father and seven-time former legislator P.C. George.

Media personality B. Gopalakrishnan has also been retained as vice-president. He remarked, “This new team will significantly propel the party forward as local body elections approach rapidly.”

Point of View

It's crucial to highlight that the BJP's restructuring in Kerala reflects a strategic effort to unify the party and address internal conflicts. This reshuffle could potentially strengthen the BJP's foothold in a state where it has faced challenges, thereby demonstrating a commitment to evolving leadership dynamics.
