Kerala High Court Orders Arrest of Senior IAS Official in Contempt Case

Kochi, Jan 8 (NationPress) On Wednesday, the Kerala High Court instructed the police to detain state Health Secretary Rajan Khobragade and present him before the court on January 20.
This order was issued after a contempt of court petition was lodged by government employee Dr B.Unnikrishnan, who has a physical disability.
In 2023, Unnikrishnan had filed a petition with the High Court concerning a promotion posting, which was subsequently approved. However, the state government appealed and submitted a review petition to the Supreme Court, which also ruled in Unnikrishnan's favor.
In September of the previous year, the High Court instructed the state government to issue the promotion order for Unnikrishnan. Despite this directive, the state government failed to comply, leading the High Court to order the police on Wednesday to arrest the senior IAS officer and bring him before the court.
