Muktainagar (Maharashtra), March 2 (NationPress) - Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse on Sunday called for stringent measures against the individuals who harassed her daughter and several other girls during a yatra in Kothali village, Jalgaon.

The incident occurred at a Maha Shivratri Mela in Muktainagar, where a group of young men reportedly targeted the minister's daughter and other girls, even attempting to capture their images on mobile devices.

Upon learning of the situation, law enforcement arrived quickly, but the offenders had already escaped.

In response to the event, Khadse, along with her daughter, numerous supporters, and party members, went to the police station to lodge a complaint.

Addressing the media, Khadse, clearly troubled, remarked in Marathi (translated into English), "I have come to the police station not merely as a Union Minister and MP but as a mother seeking justice."

Voicing her serious concerns regarding women's safety, she questioned, "If daughters from families like ours are not secure, what about the others? If my own daughter is vulnerable, what is the situation for others? I will insist on decisive action from the state government to enforce the law."

"If the daughter of a public figure is being harassed, what about the safety of the average citizen? I will approach the Chief Minister to demand action regarding such incidents," she added.

Khadse disclosed that prior complaints against the accused had been filed with the police.

"They have recorded videos of four or five girls. There has been a rise in crimes against women throughout the state, and the perpetrators no longer fear legal consequences. Many girls hesitate to come forward, but we must not stay silent. That is why I have registered a complaint," she stated.

Raksha Khadse, who has served as a Member of Parliament for the Raver Lok Sabha seat three times, is a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party. She won elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024 and currently holds the distinction of being the youngest woman minister in the Modi government.

In the newly established Modi 3.0 cabinet, she has been appointed as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports.
