The Union MoS also underscored significant provisions in the Union Budget pertinent to Assam and the North Eastern Region, highlighting their importance in enhancing infrastructure, livelihoods, and social services.
She praised the district administration for effective project execution, timely completion of initiatives, and successful target achievements under various schemes.
The meeting stressed the importance of enhancing implementation mechanisms, improving convergence among schemes, and accelerating comprehensive and inclusive development within the district, as stated.
Attendees included Hojai District Commissioner Bidyut Bilash Bhagwati and senior officials from the district administration and line departments.
Earlier this week, Minister of State for MDoNER, Sukanta Majumdar, informed the Rajya Sabha that a total of 82 projects worth Rs 4,703.81 crores have been approved under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) over the last two financial years -- FY 2023-24, FY 2024-25, and the current FY 2025-26 (as of January 31, 2026).
He mentioned that MDoNER has implemented various measures to guarantee the timely completion of projects sanctioned under multiple schemes, including NESIDS.
Officials from MDoNER, North Eastern Council, and Field Technical Support Units (FTSUs) are responsible for the ongoing monitoring and inspection of these projects.
Regular review meetings are held with state governments in the NER to expedite the execution of projects sanctioned under MDoNER schemes. The introduction of Project Quality Monitors/Third Party Technical Inspection Agencies (PQM/TPTI) aims to enhance the monitoring framework of MDoNER, as stated by the MoS.
Under NESIDS (Roads), the State Level Empowered Committee (SLEC) of the respective NE State Governments recommends projects that contribute to the development of physical assets in roads, bridges, and related infrastructure, based on their needs and priorities.
Likewise, under NESIDS (Other Than Roads Infrastructure), the SLEC of the concerned NE State Government recommends projects aimed at building infrastructure for Primary and Secondary Health Care, Primary and Secondary Education, Water Supply, Industrial Development, Sports, Telecom, etc., in line with their specific needs and gaps.
