An FIR registered against popular educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, has deepened a political controversy in Bihar, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserting on 7 June that the administration is acting strictly within the framework of the law. The case originates from a disturbance reported on 2 June at a coaching institute in Patna's Kadamkuan area.

Police have registered the FIR against Khan Sir, his two arrested security guards, and several unidentified individuals in connection with the incident. According to investigators, the two bodyguards allegedly stated during questioning that they fired their .315-bore rifles on the instructions of Khan Sir. Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal responded to the controversy by emphasising that the administration was not acting selectively. 'Whatever action is being taken against Khan ji is as per the rules, and the government is acting according to the law, and the administration will do its work as per the law,' Jaiswal said. His remarks were framed as a rebuttal to suggestions that the action was politically motivated.

Opposition Voices: Conspiracy Claims and Coaching Critique

CPI(M) leader and former Member of Parliament Hannan Mollah alleged that the action against Khan Sir was part of a larger conspiracy, while also using the occasion to criticise the broader coaching industry. 'This is a conspiracy. Coaching centres exist across the country, but many of them have become centres of exploitation. Students are charged heavily, and parents often sell their property to send their children there. This is the reality of coaching centres in Delhi, Kota, Bihar and elsewhere,' Mollah said. He drew a sharp distinction between Khan Sir's model and others, noting that the educator reportedly charged approximately one-tenth of what rival institutes demand — a model aimed at students from economically weaker sections.

The NEET-UG Link: Distraction or Coincidence?

Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand argued that the focus on the coaching institute dispute was drawing public attention away from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) paper leak controversy. 'Across the country, there is widespread anger among students over the NEET examination issue. Students have been continuously protesting and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In such a situation, giving undue prominence to disputes involving coaching institutes appears to be an attempt to divert public attention from the NEET controversy,' Chand said. He nonetheless added that if any law had been violated in the coaching institute incident, appropriate legal action should follow.
