Patna, July 5 (NationPress) The assassination of notable Patna industrialist Gopal Khemka has taken an intriguing twist, as law enforcement officials suspect that the plot was purportedly orchestrated from within Beur Jail.
Responding to critical intelligence, Patna police have initiated an extensive operation at Beur Jail, spearheaded by SSP Kartikeya Sharma.
A specialized team, which includes four SDPOs, three DSPs, and over 200 police personnel from 12 police stations, is currently involved in the raid aimed at collecting evidence linked to the murder case.
The tragic event occurred around 11:40 pm near the Panache Hotel in the Gandhi Maidan area, one of Patna's upscale neighborhoods, as Khemka was exiting his vehicle when an unidentified assailant on a motorcycle opened fire on him.
Khemka was hit by a bullet and later died in the hospital.
Shankar Khemka, the victim's brother, has criticized the police for their delayed response, stating: “Officers arrived late after the incident, at around 2:30 am.”
SSP Kartikeya Sharma, who met with Gopal Khemka’s family, confirmed that “significant clues” have emerged during the raid.
“We have conducted searches at Beur Jail and obtained crucial evidence. All findings are being analyzed thoroughly, and we aim to resolve the entire case swiftly. Every aspect is being scrutinized, and we are exploring all potential leads,” the SSP stated.
