Patna, July 5 (NationPress) In the wake of the tragic murder of esteemed industrialist Gopal Khemka near a police station in Patna, Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has conceded to significant failures in policing. He promised stringent actions against any officers who showed negligence in this serious matter.
“This incident transpired mere meters from the police station. Where was the patrolling team of Patna Police? This is a grave situation, and those found negligent will face consequences. We shall recommend the removal of such officers to the government. Negligence cannot be overlooked,” asserted Sinha. He also insisted on an investigation into why no decisive measures were taken after a similar tragedy in 2018 when Khemka’s son, Gunjan Khemka, was shot in Vaishali.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary labeled the incident a “challenge for the state government” and stressed that the Nitish Kumar-led administration will not tolerate anyone complicit in this murder.
“We will pursue the suspects into their homes to ensure justice for the bereaved family. Timely justice is paramount. We have directed officials to deliver justice within 24 hours,” claimed Choudhary, while denying any involvement of organized crime but recognizing the severe law-and-order issue this incident presents.
Rajesh Verma, MP from Khagaria representing LJP (RV), expressed his dismay, calling the murder “shocking.”
“We discuss Bihar’s development, but how can we progress if industrialists remain unsafe? The murder of Gopal Khemka, occurring close to a police station, illustrates a complete breakdown of law and order in Bihar. I urge the state government to take decisive action against the perpetrators,” Verma remarked.
This incident has sparked widespread concern throughout Bihar’s industrial community and political spheres, raising urgent questions regarding the safety of business leaders in the state and the effectiveness of policing, even in high-security zones.
