Patna, July 5 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, visited the family of the murdered industrialist Gopal Khemka in Patna, offering his support and affirming that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) stands resolutely with them in their quest for justice.
“We are prepared to assist and collaborate at every level to ensure justice is served and to uncover the truth behind this tragic event as swiftly as possible,” Tejashwi Yadav stated to the press after meeting the mourning family.
Labeling the murder as “heart-wrenching,” Tejashwi emphasized that the incident, which transpired near the family’s residence in a high-security zone adjacent to the DM and SP’s homes and merely 200 yards from a police station, has sent shockwaves not only through Patna but throughout the entire state.
“This incident starkly illustrates that the government’s credibility in Bihar has reached its nadir, and criminals are being shielded under its governance. The agony of the family is unbearable, and they feel that the government is withholding information regarding any hearings or actions taken. Crime and criminals are dominating the state, showcasing the deficiencies of the current administration in Bihar,” Tejashwi remarked.
He recalled that six years prior, Gopal Khemka’s son, Gunjan Khemka, was also murdered under similar circumstances during the NDA’s tenure.
“I participated in the candlelight vigil back then, but even after six years, the family remains denied justice, and the perpetrators still roam free. Now, this tragedy has recurred in an area like Gandhi Maidan, close to the DM and SP’s residences,” he added.
Tejashwi condemned the state government, asserting that crimes, particularly those against women and minor girls, are escalating daily in Bihar without any action being undertaken, while the ruling party persists in repeating the mantra of “15 years, 15 years.”
“Gunfire is being discharged in front of the Chief Minister’s residence, the Leader of Opposition’s residence, the Judge’s residence, and in Patna’s high-security zones, yet criminals continue to evade capture while police inaction is evident to everyone,” Tejashwi continued.
When questioned about the ongoing crime wave in Bihar, Tejashwi expressed: “Whatever you are experiencing, we are experiencing the same. Today, human life holds no value, and criminals commit offenses at will and escape consequences. Murders have become commonplace.”
Tejashwi also directed his criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his silence on the escalating crime rates in the state despite his frequent visits and his critiques of “Jungle Raj.”
“Why doesn’t he confront the Chief Minister regarding why such incidents occur daily in Bihar under NDA rule without any repercussions? The media must unveil the truth to expose a government that endorses criminals and corruption in Bihar,” he contended.
Tejashwi further brought attention to issues of bribery in transfer postings within the state administration, alleging that “when officers are appointed in exchange for DK tax (bribes), crime and criminals exploit the situation.”
He assured the victim’s family that the RJD would advocate for justice “from the streets to the Assembly” until the perpetrators are apprehended.
