Patna, April 3 (NationPress) Khushboo Pandey, known as ‘Hindu Sherni’, has been granted bail by the Jamui Civil Court on Thursday after enduring nearly one and a half months in incarceration.
The controversy began on February 16 in Baliyadih village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Jhajha police station in Jamui district, during a recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa.
This event triggered a violent confrontation, where individuals were assaulted with bricks and stones, resulting in numerous injuries and damage to several vehicles.
Pandey was charged with delivering inflammatory speeches and shouting objectionable slogans during the Hanuman Chalisa recitation, which reportedly incited the outrage.
Furthermore, she and her associates were accused of organizing the event and gathering people without notifying the district police.
A threatening video of Khushboo Pandey related to the event was also circulated online on that same day.
In the aftermath of the violence, Sub-Inspector Nandan Rai of Jhajha police station filed a case against seven identified individuals, including Khushboo Pandey, along with 50 unidentified persons.
On February 18, Jamui police apprehended Khushboo Pandey at her home, identifying her as a key suspect in the incident.
Following her court appearance, she was remanded to jail while awaiting further legal proceedings. Her arrest incited political controversy in the district, with various groups expressing concerns regarding her detention.
After spending over 45 days behind bars, the Jamui Civil Court granted her bail on Thursday, providing significant relief to her supporters. She is anticipated to be released from custody shortly.
