Bengaluru, Oct 7 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP unit commemorated Valmiki Jayanti on Tuesday at their headquarters, 'Jagannath Bhavan' in Bengaluru, where they criticized the Congress government for alleged financial misconduct involving the Maharshi Valmiki Tribal Welfare Board.
BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra questioned the Congress-led administration, stating, “While Chief Minister Siddaramaiah delivers extensive speeches regarding Scheduled Castes, how is the Congress party, which gained power by advocating for backward communities, actually managing the government? Within just months of taking office, the Congress-led administration reportedly misappropriated hundreds of crores from the Valmiki Corporation.”
“Funds intended for Scheduled Castes, community youth, and impoverished students were purportedly diverted to Telangana and funneled into numerous accounts,” Vijayendra condemned.
During the Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti event, Vijayendra celebrated Maharshi Valmiki as the greatest poet who introduced India's rich culture and heritage to the global audience.
He noted that by elegantly composing the epic 'Ramayana', Maharshi Valmiki not only highlighted the virtues of Lord Ram to India but also to the entire world.
He added, “The pride of our nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently inaugurated the magnificent Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The decision to name the international airport after Maharshi Valmiki is a source of pride for Karnataka and the entire nation.”
Vijayendra remarked that during the previous BJP-led government under Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, it was decided that Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti would be celebrated meaningfully and on a grand scale to promote societal unity.
“The current BJP government is responsible for today’s significant celebrations, and a government holiday was also declared. During the BJP administration, a development corporation for Scheduled Castes was established to aid the community's youth in achieving economic, social, and educational advancement. Following the establishment of the Valmiki Corporation, offices were opened in all district centers,” he explained.
Vijayendra pointed out that no former Congress-led government had allocated grants to the Valmiki community’s mathas, while the BJP government, under Yediyurappa, provided such funding.
He remembered that under former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, a historic decision was made to enhance reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Vijayendra criticized the Congress, asserting that the party has consistently overlooked the needs of the poor and marginalized.
