Bengaluru, Sep 29 (NationPress) In a bold move against the dissent regarding the Socio-Economic and Academic Survey, widely referred to as the caste census, the ruling Congress party in Karnataka has formally addressed a letter to J.P. Nadda, the National President of the BJP and Union Minister. This letter specifically targets Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who have openly opposed this significant survey.
Ramesh Babu, Congress MLC and Chairman of the KPCC Media and Communication Department, Bengaluru, expressed in the petition, "I wish to draw your attention to a crucial issue concerning the public statements and actions of Pralhad Joshi and Tejasvi Surya, who have voiced their opposition to the OBC Survey initiated by the Karnataka Government."
The OBC Survey is being conducted in accordance with constitutional guidelines and Supreme Court rulings to facilitate social justice, equitable representation, and to safeguard the interests of the Backward Classes. The objective of the survey is to gather precise data regarding the social and educational status of OBC communities, which is vital for developing welfare policies and protecting the reservation system, as stated by Ramesh Babu.
However, the remarks made by Joshi and Surya not only oppose this constitutional initiative but also depict the survey as a "conspiracy" against the Backward Classes and the reservation framework. Such comments diminish the constitutional obligation to uplift socially and educationally backward groups, he asserted.
Furthermore, their statements risk creating confusion and division among OBC communities regarding the purpose and outcome of the survey; they contradict the BJP's declared promise to uphold reservation and ensure justice for the Backward Classes, ultimately eroding the trust of OBC communities in the party, which has consistently claimed that reservation and OBC welfare are central to its policies, according to Ramesh Babu.
It is profoundly inappropriate and detrimental for senior leaders and elected officials of the BJP to contest a lawful, constitutional process designed to protect the rights of Backward Classes. Their remarks raise significant doubts about the BJP's dedication to OBC communities. By opposing this initiative, Joshi and Surya undermine OBC rights and jeopardize the cause of reservation. They are attempting to foster division and confusion among backward communities, he alleged.
"I therefore demand that the BJP impose strict measures against Pralhad Joshi and Tejasvi Surya for their anti-OBC stance. The Party must promptly clarify its official position on the Karnataka OBC Survey. The BJP needs to reassure Backward Classes that their reservation and constitutional rights will remain intact," stated Ramesh Babu.
"The OBCs are an essential foundation of society and politics. Inaction on this matter will only distance them further. I urge decisive action in the interest of justice and to uphold the credibility of the Party. The OBC communities represent a crucial segment of society, and any effort to undermine their constitutional rights is a betrayal of social justice principles. I call for swift action to restore the faith of Backward Classes in the BJP," Ramesh Babu emphasized.
