Hyderabad, June 9 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday accused the BJP and Congress of a coordinated effort to undermine BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao by manipulating facts related to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
He claimed that both parties are united with a singular aim to provoke KCR. Their objective, according to him, is not governance but rather political vendetta.
Rama Rao emphasized that the Kaleshwaram initiative was not an individual decision, but rather a consensus reached by the Telangana Cabinet at the time.
“Even former ministers like Etela Rajender and Harish Rao have confirmed that this was a government-approved, cabinet-sanctioned project. The execution was managed by the administration, not by individuals. There is absolutely nothing to conceal. Everything was conducted with complete transparency,” he stated, shortly after BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao appeared before PC Ghose Commission, which is investigating alleged irregularities in the project.
KTR encouraged the public to view the comprehensive presentation made by Harish Rao, asserting that it would elucidate the project’s significance and advantages.
“If a leader in another nation had successfully executed a project of this magnitude, bringing irrigation to 45 lakh acres in just four years, they would have been immortalized in their national narrative. That leader would have received global accolades. Unfortunately, in our country, such a monumental achievement has become a vehicle for political disparagement,” he lamented.
KTR criticized the issuance of notices by investigative bodies as an act of politically motivated harassment. “These notices are merely attempts to annoy and distract us. We have already conveyed everything that needs to be communicated. Today, Harish Rao presented all necessary facts before the commission in detail. There is nothing new for the commission to inquire about KCR garu — all pertinent information has already been disclosed,” KTR asserted.
The BRS chief is slated to appear before the Commission on June 11.
Drawing comparisons, KTR pointed out that while Congress administrations took decades to complete significant projects like Bhakra Nangal, Nagarjuna Sagar, Narmada, and SRSP, KCR accomplished Kaleshwaram in an unprecedented timeframe.
Criticizing the Congress administration under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, KTR remarked that they rose to power by making 420 false promises, only to betray the electorate. “This government is steering the state towards a perilous, destructive trajectory,” he concluded.
