Will KTR Challenge CM Revanth Reddy for a Debate on Hyderabad's Development?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Nov 5 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday issued a challenge to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for a public debate regarding the development of Hyderabad, claiming the Congress government has neglected the city during its two-year tenure.
KTR expressed the BRS's willingness to discuss - in any language and at any venue - the achievements made for Hyderabad during its decade in power, as well as the contributions made by Congress over the past two years.
His comments came during the release of the party's progress report for the Jubilee Hills constituency, part of the campaign for the upcoming November 11 bye-election.
"If Revanth Reddy has the fortitude, he should set the date, time, and location. Whether it's at Command Control, Gandhi Bhavan, or the Assembly, we are prepared," KTR stated, challenging the Chief Minister to present his track record for the public's judgment.
KTR highlighted the civic accomplishments during the BRS era, contrasting them with what he deemed as Congress' lack of action.
He recalled the construction of 42 flyovers and various underpasses, improvements in sanitation through initiatives like Swachh Hyderabad and SNDP, and the delivery of numerous double-bedroom homes.
The former minister criticized the current government for stalling or reversing many projects, resulting in potholes, dependence on water tankers, and increasing crime rates in the city.
On the topic of infrastructure, KTR challenged Congress to identify a single new road, LED-lighting installation, nursery, or metro expansion completed in the last two years. He reminded the audience that the Hyderabad Metro and several transformative projects were initiated under the BRS leadership, while accusing the current government of demolishing thousands of homes without providing replacements.
KTR also responded to allegations made by the state government and the investigations announced against him.
He dismissed recent inquiries, including those related to Formula E and other notices, as diversionary tactics, reiterating his offer for a live lie-detector test to address claims of misconduct. "Anyone who is a thief will be revealed," he declared, challenging the CM to a public accountability confrontation.
KTR accused the Congress and BJP of forming an "unprincipled alliance" in Telangana and criticized remarks from certain leaders that he claimed insult minorities.
He demanded an apology from Revanth Reddy for statements that belittled specific communities; failing that, KTR warned, the people will make their choice known at the polls.
KTR urged voters in Jubilee Hills to evaluate records over rhetoric. "We will demonstrate our accomplishments and then ask for votes. If Congress has done anything significant in two years, they should present it publicly. If they can't, the electorate will pass judgment on November 11," he concluded.
