Hyderabad, Nov 2 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday called for an immediate apology from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his shameful and insulting remarks regarding the Indian Army.
The uproar began when Reddy, during a campaign for the Jubilee Hills by-election, remarked, “When Pakistan attacked us, we did not respond.”
This statement incited widespread outrage for belittling the bravery and integrity of India's armed forces.
Responding strongly, BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) asserted that such irresponsible and disgraceful comments are unfit for someone in the Chief Minister's role. “To demean the Indian Army merely to gain political advantage at an election rally is a new low, even for Revanth Reddy,” KTR said, insisting that the Chief Minister retract his statement and issue a public apology to the Indian Army.
KTR emphasized that joining the armed forces demands immense dedication, commitment, and love for the country, risking one's life for the nation. “We enjoy safety, engage in politics, and cherish time with our families only because our soldiers safeguard our borders, enduring the harshest conditions,” he remarked.
Questioning the motives behind Reddy’s comments, KTR posed, “What prompted you to belittle our Army and elevate Pakistan? What did you hope to achieve by humiliating our courageous soldiers?”
“For someone who has been previously implicated with bags of cash, it might be natural to admire criminals. However, as the Chief Minister of Telangana, you owe it to the public to exhibit dignity and patriotism. Cease your insults to the Indian Army and stop praising an adversarial nation,” he stated.
KTR further noted that Reddy’s remarks have profoundly offended millions of Indians who hold the Army in high esteem. “As Telangana's representative, you are expected to act responsibly and honor the soldiers who defend our borders, rather than disparaging them for your political theatrics,” the BRS leader affirmed.
The BJP has already condemned the Chief Minister’s remarks and is demanding an apology from him.
