Hyderabad, Sep 16 (NationPress) The working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K. T. Rama Rao, asserted on Tuesday that supporters of the BJP exhibit a blatant disregard for both the Constitution and the Supreme Court.
He criticized the BJP followers for their backlash after BRS expressed support for the Supreme Court’s interim ruling on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025.
"As anticipated, certain BJP supporters are unsettled by the BRS Party’s endorsement of the Supreme Court's interim ruling on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. They show no respect for the Indian Constitution or the directives from our highest court!" KTR remarked in a post on 'X'.
The BRS leader further lambasted BJP leaders, labeling them as hypocrites.
"Let me remind them of their glaring hypocrisy. Just five months ago, 26 innocent lives were lost in a terror attack backed by Pakistan. Yet, the governing BJP has no hesitation in allowing our national team to play cricket against the very nation that is financing terrorism on our land, despite strong protests from the families of the victims against this cruel betrayal," KTR stated.
"In contrast to your loud, pseudo-nationalistic rhetoric, BRS embodies true nationalism in both principle and practice. For us, nationalism entails treating every Indian fairly, regardless of caste, creed, or religion. It is about understanding the delicate distinction between nationalism and jingoism," the BRS leader elaborated.
On Monday, KTR welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim ruling concerning the Waqf Amendment Act. He mentioned that BRS has consistently raised alarms regarding the controversial elements of the Act, which, under the guise of progress, foment division and threaten the communal harmony of our country.
"We have opposed the troubling provisions of the Waqf Amendment Act, questioning how one determines who qualifies as a Muslim or how government officials can arbitrarily assign ownership of Waqf properties," stated KTR. "There are numerous issues within the Act that could incite divisive politics."
The former minister highlighted that BRS has always aimed to safeguard the communal integrity of the nation, emphasizing unity and strength over political gain. In the Rajya Sabha, BRS fiercely opposed the problematic provisions of the Act. The party will persist in advocating for the principles of a robust and united India whenever necessary, he affirmed.
