A police spokesperson confirmed that CKMA's 'commander-in-chief', Paokholen Guite, was apprehended in the S. Munuam area of Churachandpur district.
Guite has been implicated in the smuggling of weapons and narcotics along the India-Myanmar border for militant groups that have refrained from signing the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with the government.
Additionally, he has been linked to extortion schemes. Authorities seized two AK-47 rifles with magazines, 31 rounds of 7.62 AK-47, 150 rounds of 7.62 SLR and LMG, cash amounting to Rs one lakh, a bullet-proof pouch, a vehicle, and two mobile phones.
Security personnel also captured four dedicated members of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) militant group in Imphal West and Thoubal district.
These militants were allegedly involved in extorting money from quarry laborers, brick field proprietors, and residents in Thoubal, Imphal West, and the Imphal valley region.
Numerous mobile phones, cash, Aadhaar cards, a vehicle, and other items were recovered from their possession.
The police representative stated that security forces are actively conducting search operations and monitoring sensitive areas in districts with mixed populations.
In total, 114 checkpoints have been established across various districts, both in the hilly and valley regions, to curb illegal movements of hostile entities and suspicious vehicles.
He mentioned that security escorts have been provided for numerous vehicles transporting essential supplies along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). Stringent security protocols are implemented in vulnerable areas, with a security convoy assigned to critical sections to ensure the safe transit of vehicles.
The Manipur Police have advised the public to remain cautious and not to fall for rumors, urging vigilance against misleading videos and images.
