Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 18 (NationPress) Kerala Transport Minister and former actor K.B. Ganesh Kumar expressed relief on Saturday when a forensic analysis confirmed that the signature on his late father’s will was authentic, countering allegations from his sister, Usha Mohandas. The evaluation determined that the signature of R. Balakrishna Pillai, a respected political figure who held positions as MLA, MP, and State Minister, was indeed genuine. Pillai passed away in 2021.

The accusations from Usha Mohandas had created significant turmoil in Kumar's political life, as she claimed he had falsified their father’s signature to seize a substantial portion of the family's inheritance.

Ganesh Kumar, who has two sisters married to retired senior IAS officers, experienced considerable backlash after these allegations reached Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Despite securing a record fifth term from the Pathanapuram constituency in 2021, his entry into the cabinet was postponed due to this controversy.

Usha Mohandas’ assertions initially prevented Kumar from participating in the first cabinet selection round. Nevertheless, in 2023, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) initiated a mid-term reshuffle, allowing Kumar to take on the role of State Minister of Transport.

Throughout this challenging period, Kumar consistently asserted his innocence, claiming no involvement in any wrongdoing. A witness also supported his position, affirming he was not engaged in forgery.

R. Balakrishna Pillai, a prominent figure in Kerala's political landscape, was the founder of the Kerala Congress (B). His son, Ganesh Kumar, embarked on his legislative journey in 2001 and was unexpectedly selected over his father for a ministerial role in A.K. Antony’s cabinet, which strained their relationship. Despite his significant influence, Pillai later withdrew from active politics after losing the 2006 assembly election.

Throughout the years, Kumar's political path has encountered various challenges, such as resigning from the cabinet in 2011 due to personal issues and shifting allegiance from the Congress-led UDF to the CPI(M)-led Left Front in 2016.

With the forensic findings vindicating him, Kumar’s political standing has experienced a considerable uplift as Kerala prepares for the upcoming assembly elections in 2026.
