New Delhi/Bengaluru, Sep 30 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday accused the Congress-led government in Karnataka of unlawfully seizing the lands of impoverished farmers.
During a press conference held at his residence in New Delhi, Kumaraswamy remarked: "We are aware of the various illicit activities occurring under the guise of the Bidadi Township initiative in Karnataka."
He noted that in 2006, he had proposed the establishment of five townships, including one near Bidadi, stating, "I hosted four public meetings with farmers, primarily attended by women farmers. I never took possession of even a single inch of land."
Criticizing the Siddaramaiah government, he stated: "They profess to be executing my visionary project, yet they are now distributing land—500 acres to one person, 200 acres to another, and 300 acres to someone else—favoring their allies. They must remember that this is public land, not their personal property."
"I had envisioned implementing the project at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore and had received approval from the Union Government’s Economic Affairs Committee. However, after my government fell, the project was abandoned. Yet, I never seized any land," he emphasized.
"Let Deputy CM D. K. Shivakumar confirm how many homes he has destroyed," he stated, launching a fierce critique.
"They manipulated the original 'Naija Society' by introducing a vegetable society from Vijayapura and fabricated a fake one. They also created false members to commandeer land under the guise of a society. I possess all the documents and evidence of these frauds," he claimed.
He concluded by stating that the city of Bengaluru, founded by Kempegowda, has now fallen victim to anti-social elements, thieves, and land mafias who are plundering and degrading it.
