Bengaluru, March 18 (NationPress) The Karnataka government alleged on Tuesday that H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister, was implicated in the illegal occupation of government land, leading to the seizure of the affected property.
In response, Minister Kumaraswamy asserted that he has never unlawfully occupied government land or partaken in any illicit activities.
Under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner of Ramanagara district, a survey was conducted on Tuesday in Ketaganahalli village near Bidadi town, accompanied by police protection, to identify the encroached government land and reclaim it.
Deputy Commissioner Yashwanth V. Gurukar informed the media that the encroachment involved Kumaraswamy and others.
The findings will be presented in court and are currently not public information, Gurukar indicated.
"I am here to enforce the government order," he stated.
Gurukar further noted, "Following the directives of the Karnataka High Court, we are working to reclaim government land that falls under seven to eight survey numbers. More than 14 acres of land has reportedly been encroached upon, and we will provide the details to the court. The properties will be enclosed and taken into government custody."
In light of these developments, Kumaraswamy, speaking in Bengaluru on Tuesday, remarked, "I have never participated in any illegal activities throughout my life. The land in question was acquired 40 years ago, and I will contest this government's conspiracy through legal channels."
"Having served as Chief Minister of Karnataka twice, I have not encroached upon any land nor engaged in illegal activities. This land, purchased 40 years ago, should have required a formal notice at least 15 days prior to eviction according to the law. However, I have not received any notice or official communication thus far," he continued.
"It is evident that this government is engaging in oppression and plundering Bengaluru. A Special Investigation Team has been established for the first time in our nation's history for such a case. These actions will have repercussions eventually," he cautioned.
"I have become the prime target of the Congress government, which seems to disregard everyone else. I am carefully monitoring all developments. This land, acquired 40 years ago, has already been subjected to over a hundred investigations. If this is my experience, consider the situation of ordinary citizens," Kumaraswamy expressed concern.
"This land was lawfully obtained 40 years ago. I will challenge the government's actions legally. There is no need for panic. However, I urge the media to report accurately after confirming the facts," he appealed to reporters.
