New Delhi Jan 9 (NationPress) The exchange of words continues between Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Kumaraswamy has claimed that Shivakumar has encroached upon the Home Department portfolio, which is officially under the purview of state Minister G. Parameshwara.

In response to comments made by the Deputy Chief Minister during a media briefing in Delhi, Kumaraswamy also countered Shivakumar's remarks regarding his political experience.

"Shivakumar, instead of worrying about party mergers, let's focus on governance experience. I have held the position of Chief Minister twice, served as the Leader of the Opposition, and am currently a Union Minister. You (Shivakumar) have spent years as an MLA and have been a Cabinet Minister multiple times, now serving as a Minister-cum-Deputy Chief Minister. Rather than discussing our experiences, let the public decide," he sarcastically noted.

Kumaraswamy further stated, "My experiences do not involve looting, extortion, land grabbing, or property snatching. I am just a humble politician who, with the blessings of the people and God's grace, aims to assist those in need. I do not possess the 'experience' you claim, and I admit that humbly."

He added, "You are skilled in land encroachment and illegally taking over another Minister's portfolio. That’s what I meant. Despite being Deputy Chief Minister, you ought to recognize that this title comes with the same authority and protocol as a Minister's role. There are no additional privileges attached to your position. Did your extensive experience not teach you this fundamental truth, Mr. D.K. Shivakumar?"

Kumaraswamy pointed out that a meeting involving police officers in Ballari should have been led by Home Minister Parameshwara, as it lies within his domain.

"Alternatively, such a meeting could only be chaired by the Chief Minister (Siddaramaiah)," he emphasized.

"Your (D.K. Shivakumar's) involvement in that meeting is a blatant breach of protocol and authority. Is this your definition of experience and seniority?" he questioned.

"Did the Home Minister or Chief Minister authorize you to conduct that meeting? No. That’s why I’ve wondered if they are mere rubber-stamp Home Ministers. Have you enacted some constitutional change to unlawfully take over the responsibilities of a senior Minister like this?" Kumaraswamy queried.

"With such vast experience and seniority, how do you still not grasp something so simple, Mr. D.K. Shivakumar?" he expressed in frustration.

In response to Kumaraswamy's accusations on Thursday, Shivakumar suggested that the Janata Dal (Secular) might soon merge with the BJP, based on Kumaraswamy's political behavior.

"Considering Kumaraswamy's position, it seems the JD(S) could merge with the BJP soon. If that occurs, it would be beneficial for us as well. We could then face the BJP directly, and the confusion of 'three parties in contention but only two parties in focus' would be resolved," the Deputy Chief Minister remarked.

Addressing Kumaraswamy's criticism about interference, Shivakumar stated, "Mr. Kumaraswamy, I possess more experience than you. I have superior administrative expertise. Although I may not have served as Chief Minister, I know whom to contact, what actions to take, and how to accomplish tasks. My extensive experience as a Minister equips me with the knowledge of administration. I do not require lessons from Kumaraswamy."
