Mandya (Karnataka), June 27 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H. D. Kumaraswamy highlighted the significant role banks play in facilitating the Modi government's initiatives aimed at empowering women. He made this observation during a virtual participation in a district-level bankers' meeting in Mandya.

Kumaraswamy commended the central government's efforts, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which focus on programs specifically designed for the upliftment of girl children.

He emphasized that banks have acted as a vital link, enabling youth, women, and farmers to benefit from various central government schemes.

The Minister urged financial institutions to broaden their outreach to assist even more individuals.

Additionally, he instructed banks to provide adequate support to farmers seeking one-time loan settlements, ensuring they qualify for new loans thereafter.

Kumaraswamy mentioned that there have been rising complaints regarding high interest rates on loans taken by farmers, leading many to consider one-time settlements to clear their debts. He stressed the importance of banks cooperating with these farmers.

Highlighting the financial struggles faced by farmers, he stated, "Numerous complaints regarding exorbitant interest rates are being reported. This has prompted many to opt for full repayment of their loans. During such critical times, banks should treat these farmers with respect. Under no circumstances should they be treated harshly," he firmly insisted.

During this meeting, the Annual Financial Credit Report was unveiled. Present at the event were Zilla Panchayat CEO Nandini, several district-level officials, and leaders from local banks.

Earlier in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy remarked, "I am unaware of the internal dynamics within the Congress party. However, I have seen reports suggesting that close aides of the Chief Minister are hinting at a rebellion. That is all I have gathered from the media."

Responding to questions about Minister K.N. Rajanna's remarks, he stated, "Rajanna mentioned a potential change in state politics by September, hinting at a rebellion. Whether it truly is a rebellion remains unclear. You would need to ask either Rajanna or the Chief Minister for clarity on their party's developments."

Expressing concern over the recent death of five tigers in Male Mahadeshwara Hills, Kumaraswamy lamented, "Such unfortunate events should not happen. It marks a stain on the state. We have yet to ascertain the cause of these deaths, and a thorough investigation is necessary to uncover the truth."

When questioned about Opposition Leader R. Ashoka's recent visit to Delhi amidst discussions about appointing a new State President, Kumaraswamy clarified, "Ashoka visited my residence in Delhi. We share a brotherly bond. There was no political dialogue; it was simply a friendly visit to my new government residence. Regarding the BJP state president, I possess no updates."

The Union Minister also sent warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Jayanti.

"Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda was not only the founder of Bengaluru but also an exceptional administrator, a visionary, and a leader dedicated to the welfare of his people. We must always honor his legacy," Kumaraswamy remarked.

He added that Kempe Gowda's visionary contributions in urban development, irrigation, and agriculture continue to inspire and guide us.

"Let us uphold the proud legacy of Bengaluru, now recognized globally as a hub for science, technology, innovation, industry, and job opportunities," he concluded.
