Mysuru, Feb 24 (NationPress) In a strong response to the negative reactions towards the recently unveiled Union Budget 2025-26, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy asserted that such criticism is unjust.
“This budget is both comprehensive and visionary, with a substantial focus on the welfare of the impoverished, women, farmers, and the youth,” he noted.
During a press briefing held in Mysuru on Monday regarding the Union Budget, Kumaraswamy pointed out that the tax burden on the middle class has been alleviated. Numerous initiatives have been introduced to bolster the financial stability of farmers, and he guaranteed that these measures would not just be verbal commitments but would be implemented effectively.
As per the vision outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he highlighted that development is being extended to all, allowing various segments of society to benefit from central government programs.
“The primary aim of this budget is to aid farmers, women, youth, and the middle class. This year, a budget totaling Rs 50 lakh crore has been introduced, with Rs 11.20 lakh crore earmarked for capital expenditure. The agricultural sector has received Rs 1.72 lakh crore,” he said.
He further mentioned that India is currently experiencing the fastest economic growth among major global economies.
“The development achievements and structural reforms of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government over the past decade have attracted significant international attention. The focus is on enhancing crop productivity, boosting domestic pulse production, ensuring farmers receive profitable prices, and developing climate-resilient seeds tailored to specific regions. Under the revised interest subsidy scheme, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) will offer short-term loans to 7.7 crore farmers, fishermen, and dairy farmers, with the loan limit raised from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh,” he asserted.
In another matter, addressing the police station attack incident in Mysuru in reaction to an offensive social media post, Kumaraswamy demanded that the individuals responsible for the Udayagiri police station riot be punished severely.
“Those involved in the Udayagiri riots in Mysuru must face strict consequences, irrespective of their identity. Anyone who threw stones at police vehicles deserves firm action. How long will such behavior be tolerated? The government is not here to please anyone; it serves everyone. The Congress party must remember this. Anyone engaging in criminal activities should be prosecuted according to the law—this is the state government's responsibility. Should those who gathered stones and attacked be shielded?” he remarked.
Kumaraswamy expressed strong condemnation of the incident and questioned the law and order situation, stating, “If individuals are openly pelting stones at police vehicles, what does that indicate about the security and tranquility of our state?”
He emphasized that Karnataka should continue to be a region of peace and harmony, as envisioned by the author Kuvempu.
