Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, April 14 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy stated on Tuesday that the comprehensive execution of women’s reservation is poised to revolutionize the political environment, emphasizing that a 33 percent reservation for women is being guaranteed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
While addressing the press in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy highlighted that, after delimitation, the number of Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka is projected to increase to 42, with 33 percent reserved for women.
He mentioned that his party is committed to promoting greater involvement of women in politics.
In response to criticism from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who labeled BJP leaders as “habitual liars,” Kumaraswamy countered, urging the Chief Minister to reflect on the credibility of the claims being made.
He also accused Siddaramaiah of appropriating credit for initiatives initiated during his administration. Referring to a bridge project in the Sagarakatte village within the Chief Minister’s constituency, Kumaraswamy indicated that the project was approved and funded during his tenure but is now being misrepresented as a current government achievement.
Criticizing the administration's focus on guarantee schemes, he remarked that the government was “glorifying Rs 2,000 schemes” while asserting that citizens are living comfortably.
Kumaraswamy asserted that policy declarations made from air-conditioned offices at Vidhana Soudha do not tackle the actual challenges faced by the populace, stressing the importance of leaders visiting villages to grasp the realities on the ground.
He further stated that simply honoring the statue of B.R. Ambedkar is insufficient; leaders must genuinely work towards empowering the communities Ambedkar championed.
He described such initiatives as the genuine homage to the architect of the Constitution.
Expressing his anticipation for Prime Minister Modi's imminent visit to Karnataka, Kumaraswamy noted that this would be Modi's first trip to Mandya district since he took office as Union Minister. He extended a cordial invitation to the Prime Minister.
Kumaraswamy mentioned that Prime Minister Modi would inaugurate the Bhairavaikya Mandir at Adichunchanagiri Math with the presence of seer Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, and other prominent figures.
He stated that the event would be non-political, featuring participation from leaders of various parties and a substantial public turnout.
Kumaraswamy alleged that the state's administrative machinery has declined due to internal strife within the Congress party. Citing developments following the Davanagere South by-election, he remarked that such infighting has negatively impacted governance.
While he refrained from commenting on another party's internal issues, he maintained that the ongoing discord has disrupted administration in the state.
He criticized the Congress for adopting a dual standard by catering to certain communities while targeting leaders from those same groups. He stated, “In a democracy, all communities must be treated equally. No community should be favored at the expense of another, and political parties cannot expect perpetual allegiance from any single group,” stressing that the public is closely monitoring these developments.
Kumaraswamy also pointed out the persistent tensions between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister over the past three years, noting that there are no signs of resolution and that governance has suffered as a consequence.
