New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) In a last-minute plea to the opposition factions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for their backing of the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' during the ongoing discussions in Parliament.

The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, designed to enable women's reservation and facilitate delimitation, received approval in the Lok Sabha on Thursday after a vote in the House.

"At present, there is a discussion in Parliament regarding the amendment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The debate continued until 1 a.m. last night as well," PM Modi shared in a post on X.

He noted that the government has provided logical responses to counter the misconceptions that had arisen.

"All concerns have been addressed. The information that was previously unavailable has also been shared with every member. Any issues that may have caused opposition in anyone's mind have also been clarified," the Prime Minister stated.

He emphasized that for four decades, significant political maneuvering has occurred regarding the issue of women's reservation in the nation, and it is now time for half of the country's population to receive its rights.

"Even after so many decades of Independence, it is unacceptable that Indian women have such minimal representation in the decision-making processes," Prime Minister Modi remarked.

The voting on the bills is slated for 4 p.m. on Friday.

In urging the opposition for a unanimous passage of the bills, the Prime Minister said, "In just a short while, voting will commence in the Lok Sabha. I urge all political parties... I appeal..."

"Please, after careful consideration and with utmost sensitivity, decide and vote in favor of women's reservation. On behalf of the country's Nari Shakti, I implore all members... please do not undertake any actions that might offend the sentiments of Nari Shakti," PM Modi appealed.

He also remarked, "The eyes of millions of women in the country are upon us all, observing our intentions and decisions. Please lend your support to the amendment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam."

He urged all Members of Parliament to "remember the memory of your mother, sister, daughter, wife at home, listen to your conscience..."

"This is a tremendous opportunity to serve the women power of the nation, to honor them. Do not deny them of new opportunities," PM Modi stated in his official post on X.

Reinforcing the cause of women empowerment, the Prime Minister asserted: "This amendment will be ratified through consensus, and the women power of the country will be further strengthened... the democracy of the country will also be enhanced."

"Come... let us create history together today. Provide the women of India... half of the nation's population their rightful recognition," he concluded.
