The announcement of his unopposed election was made on Tuesday by Election Officer Ramchandra Purve, who confirmed the details through an official notification.
In his remarks to the press, Purve stated, "Lalu Prasad was the sole candidate to submit a nomination for the RJD presidency. The deadline for nomination withdrawals ended at 3 p.m. today, and no other nominations were either submitted or withdrawn, leading to his unopposed election."
The formal declaration and presentation of the election certificate are set to occur during the National Council meeting of the RJD, which is scheduled for July 5 at Bapu Auditorium in Patna.
This occasion will also be commemorated as 'Lalu Samman Diwas', followed by an open session of the party, presided over by the newly elected president.
The nomination process commenced on June 23 when Lalu Prasad filed his papers at the party headquarters in Patna, alongside prominent party leaders such as Tejashwi Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Sunil Singh, Sanjay Yadav, and others.
The examination of nomination papers took place on June 24 at 2 p.m., followed by a withdrawal period that concluded at 3 p.m.
