Patna, May 25 (NationPress) The recent decision by RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to expel his eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav from both the party and family for a duration of six years has triggered a significant political upheaval, especially from the Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Leaders from both factions have raised serious concerns regarding the moral implications and the timing of Lalu's decision, particularly in light of Tej Pratap's estranged first wife, Aishwarya Rai.
Neeraj Kumar, JDU MLC and chief spokesperson, launched a fierce critique against the RJD leader, questioning the “double standards” surrounding family honor and social justice. He asked, “Where was Lalu Prasad Yadav's morality and dignity when his family treated Aishwarya Rai, the granddaughter of Daroga Prasad Rai and daughter of prominent politician Chandrika Rai, so poorly?”
Kumar accused the Yadav family of destroying Aishwarya Rai’s life and suggested that Lalu Prasad failed to maintain the principles of social justice and respect for women during this incident.
He also took aim at Tejashwi Yadav, questioning: “Despite Tej Pratap's expulsion, Tejashwi still calls him his elder brother. Is this not a game of deception between Lalu and Tejashwi? Who is really in control?”
Nikhil Anand, BJP’s national general secretary for the OBC wing, shared similar views, accusing the Yadav family of disregarding Aishwarya Rai and her family's dignity.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav! It’s understandable that you care for your honor. However, when your family should have supported Aishwarya Rai, you all chose silence,” Anand remarked.
He criticized Lalu’s efforts to project a moral high ground through Tej Pratap’s expulsion, posing the question: “For the first time since the RJD's inception, you seem concerned about character and reputation. But what about the dignity of Daroga Prasad Rai’s granddaughter? Wasn’t her honor sacrificed by your family's actions?”
He further raised a crucial question: “If everyone, including Sadhu Yadav (Lalu’s brother-in-law), was aware of Tej Pratap’s temperament, why was Aishwarya Rai coerced into this marriage? Was her family misled in the name of political alliances?”
According to the BJP leader, while Lalu Prasad may have acted to protect his and RJD’s reputation, the Yadav community is now demanding accountability for the injustices faced by Aishwarya Rai.
