Patna, March 5 (NationPress) On the fourth day of the budget session, the Bihar Assembly saw significant disruption as opposition members rallied on multiple issues, brandishing posters and banners.
Left MLAs also organized a protest at the Assembly, demanding that the unpaid honorarium for Panchayat representatives, including ward members, Panch, and Sarpanch, be addressed.
They insisted that the honorarium for all Panchayat officials in Bihar should be increased twofold. The legislators from the party contended that the government was delaying salaries for sanitation workers in Panchayats.
The Left MLAs condemned the policies of the Nitish Kumar government regarding sanitation workers, accusing the administration of intending to eliminate these jobs.
“Why are village sanitation workers not compensated despite being appointed by the government? We seek transparency on the government's stance regarding honorariums and payments,” stated Mahboob Alam, the CPI(ML) legislator.
Inside the Assembly, opposition MLAs raised various concerns. The NDA has faced backlash over several financial and governance issues.
With both ruling and opposition members creating a commotion over different topics, Wednesday’s session was characterized by heated discussions and interruptions. RJD MLA Mukesh Roshan from the Mahua Assembly constituency stirred the Assembly by entering with numerous posters aimed at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
He accused Nitish Kumar of “leading Bihar toward disaster” while emphasizing critical issues through the posters. Roshan raised questions regarding fatalities linked to illicit liquor, medical negligence in hospitals, and matters related to the reservation policy.
On Tuesday, prior to the start of the House proceedings, Mukesh Roshan arrived at the Assembly with a rattle and a lollipop, denouncing the budget as a “lollipop” and charging the government with deceiving the populace.
He claimed that the Nitish administration's budget overlooked the needs of the poor, youth, and women in the state. With ongoing protests from the opposition, it is anticipated that the Assembly sessions will continue to be disorderly and tumultuous.
