Patna, March 17 (NationPress) Turmoil ensued in the Bihar Assembly on Monday as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs protested against the worsening law and order conditions in the state.

Leading the charge was Mukesh Roshan from the Mahua assembly constituency, where RJD MLAs caused a stir by displaying posters within the Assembly.

Protests also occurred outside the Assembly, with former Chief Minister Rabri Devi vehemently criticizing the government.

At the main entrance of the Legislative Council, RJD members, spearheaded by opposition leader Rabri Devi, shouted slogans and held banners, accusing the administration of neglecting the crime situation.

Rabri Devi stated, “During Holi, twenty-two individuals were murdered statewide. If 22 homicides happen in just two days, consider how many lives are lost in Bihar monthly.”

She challenged the government’s assertions of effective governance, questioning, “Where is this so-called good governance? Young girls are being raped and killed. If even sub-inspectors and constables are being slain, what security exists for ordinary citizens?”

She further condemned the administration, asserting, “Those responsible for ensuring safety are being murdered themselves. At this juncture, only divine intervention can safeguard the common people.”

She referenced incidents from Munger and Araria, where two ASI-level police officers were killed in criminal activities.

The budget session resumed on Monday after the Holi recess. Once proceedings commenced, opposition lawmakers initiated their protest, brandishing posters and chanting slogans against the government.

Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav commanded marshals to confiscate the posters from the protesting legislators.

The opposition accused the government of failing in both governance and financial transparency. A debate and vote on the demands for grants included in the income-expenditure budget for 2025-26 will take place.
