Jammu, Nov 15 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Manoj Sinha, expressed profound sorrow on Saturday regarding the tragic accidental explosion at the Nowgam Police Station that resulted in the loss of nine lives. He has mandated an investigation into the incident. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, and various others have shared their condolences for the deceased and the injured.
In a message posted on X, the LG stated, “I am deeply troubled by the loss of precious lives due to the extremely tragic accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families affected. I wish for a quick recovery for those injured.”
“The government is standing in solidarity with the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims. We are providing all possible assistance to those impacted by this tragedy. I have initiated a probe to determine the cause of the accidental explosion,” he added.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also took to his official X account to express his grief. His statement read, “The Chief Minister has conveyed deep sorrow over the tragic accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station, which claimed precious lives and left multiple personnel injured.”
CM Omar extended his heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families and prayed for the swift recovery of all those affected by the blast.
Former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti expressed her distress as well, stating, “This heartbreaking event highlights the dangers and challenging circumstances under which our police personnel operate to ensure our safety. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the injured's rapid recovery,” she posted on X.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Karra also expressed deep sorrow regarding the tragic explosion in Nowgam. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace for the deceased.
In this unfortunate incident, nine individuals, including a member of the J&K Special Investigation Agency (SIA), two officials from the Revenue Department, three members of the FSL team, two Crime Branch photographers, and a local tailor, lost their lives during the accidental explosion that occurred inside the Nowgam Police Station on Friday night around 11:20 PM.
Overall, nine individuals were confirmed dead and 29 others sustained injuries due to this incident. J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat expressed his regret over the unfortunate accident and deemed any further speculation about the cause of the blast as “unnecessary.”
