Mumbai, June 23 (NationPress) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is set to kick off a two-day national conference for the Estimates Committees of Parliament as well as State and Union Territory Legislative Bodies this coming Monday. He will also unveil the 75th Anniversary Souvenir dedicated to the Estimates Committee of Parliament.
Throughout this two-day gathering, Chairpersons and Members of the Estimates Committees from both the Parliament of India and the State/UT Legislative Bodies will engage in discussions focused on the ‘Role of Estimates Committee in effective Monitoring and Review of Budget Estimates to promote efficiency and cost-effectiveness in administration.
The Estimates Committee plays a crucial role in analyzing the budget estimates presented to both Parliament and state legislatures. It is tasked with reviewing budget allocations across various government ministries and departments, alongside assessing their actual expenditures and performance.
Among those scheduled to address the inaugural session are Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council Prof Ram Shankar Shinde, Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Rahul Narwekar, and Chairperson of the Estimates Committee, Parliament of India, Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, as outlined in the state legislature's release.
Welcoming attendees will be Arjun Panditrao Khotkar, Chairperson of the Committee on Estimates from the Maharashtra Legislature, while Dr Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, will express the vote of thanks during the inaugural session. Members of the Estimates Committees from both the Parliament of India and the State/UT Legislative Bodies, along with Members of the Maharashtra Legislature and other dignitaries, will also be in attendance.
Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, is expected to deliver the valedictory address on the concluding day, which is Tuesday.
Scheduled to address the valedictory session are Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Chairperson of the Estimates Committee, Parliament of India, Sanjay Jaiswal, and Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve.
Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Anna Dadu Bansode, will conclude the conference with a vote of thanks.
