Key Takeaways
Bhopal, March 7 (NationPress) The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has criticized the BJP-led state government for its inability to properly utilize the budget provided by the Central government for various public welfare initiatives.
During a press briefing, Jitu Patwari, the State Congress President, asserted that the BJP administration has exhibited significant negligence in both budget management and strategic planning.
The circumstances are so severe that the state is struggling to fully expend the funds allocated for centrally sponsored programs. According to Patwari, the BJP government has effectively dismantled the agriculture and rural development sectors in Madhya Pradesh.
He claimed that the inability to utilize these funds not only highlights administrative incompetence but also reflects the BJP's lack of commitment to rural progress.
"If there is a failure to allocate budgets for both central and state-funded initiatives in a timely manner, it is evident that the Madhya Pradesh government lacks a coherent strategy and the determination to implement these programs effectively," Patwari stated during his address.
Patwari pointed out that the Central government had earmarked Rs 27,745.18 crore for rural development in the fiscal year 2025-26, yet as of March 7, 2026, only Rs 11,457.66 crore has been utilized.
"This represents a mere 41.3 percent of the total budget, demonstrating that the state government prioritizes announcements and publicity over genuine rural development," he remarked.
He further alleged that the state government failed to fully utilize funds allocated to crucial initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, and the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
Patwari emphasized that even essential rural development programs have seen minimal spending, underscoring the government's severe negligence.
He contended that the government's mismanagement, financial discrepancies, and rising corruption have caused development schemes in Madhya Pradesh to falter before they can be executed.
Patwari stated that reports indicate the Madhya Pradesh government is merely making hollow promises regarding rural development while showing blatant negligence in implementing welfare schemes.
"If funds are not being spent on rural development initiatives, how can we expect to see increased employment in villages, improved infrastructure, or housing for the underprivileged? How will the rural economy thrive?" he questioned.
