Bhopal, May 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has announced that the state government has submitted a proposal to the Central government and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to host the National Games in Madhya Pradesh.
On Friday, he expressed that organizing the National Games in Madhya Pradesh would be a significant honor for the state and assured that the government would make every effort to secure this opportunity.
The National Games are slated to take place between January and March in 2028.
"The state government is dedicated to advancing Madhya Pradesh in the realm of sports. We will spare no effort in developing our athletes and sports infrastructure," stated the Chief Minister.
During a meeting with the State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Sarang, Chief Minister Yadav directed sports department officials to ensure thorough and timely preparations for the National Games.
He also mentioned that water tourism is being actively promoted in the state.
The Chief Minister instructed that visitors to Bhopal should be able to experience authentic water sports at both the upper and lower lakes, with all necessary facilities in place.
During the meeting, he also evaluated the preparations for the Asian Rowing Championship, which is scheduled to be held from October 14 to 19, 2025, at the Water Sports Training Centre in Bhopal.
It is anticipated that around 450 athletes from over 22 countries, along with 100 technical officials and 12 jury members, will participate, alongside numerous water sports enthusiasts.
Chief Minister Yadav has called for immediate preparations for the Asian Rowing Championship.
He emphasized the importance of timely completion of landscaping and leveling tasks at the venue.
Additionally, he suggested showcasing traditional Indian sports such as Mallakhamb through international demonstration events and proposed including activities like tug of war, Indian-style archery, shooting ball, and 'pithoo' in the Khelo Madhya Pradesh Games.
Chief Minister Yadav stressed the necessity for coordination between the Sports Department and various departments, including School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education, and Tribal Affairs, to cultivate athletic talent.
