Bhopal, July 4 (NationPress) Close to one lakh exceptional students who achieved over 75 percent marks in their class 12th examinations for the academic year 2024-25 under the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) were thrilled to see Rs 25,000 credited to their bank accounts on Friday.
This amount was digitally transferred by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as part of the 'Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan' initiative during a ceremony held at the Kushabhau Thakre convention centre, attended by Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh.
Several top-achieving students from various regions of Madhya Pradesh were presented with laptops directly by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while others received their laptops subsequently from the School Education Minister, Uday Pratap Singh.
The remaining meritorious students, who also scored above 75 percent, will have Rs 25,000 deposited into their bank accounts, with account details submitted through their schools.
Students who received laptops were ecstatic, having awaited this moment for more than two months since the class 12 results were announced on May 6. They expressed relief at no longer needing to persuade their parents for a laptop to aid their studies.
IANS spoke with several of the students present, and most conveyed their happiness at acquiring personal laptops that will support their pursuit of bachelor's degrees. They expressed their appreciation to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for this initiative and wished for the government to maintain such beneficial programs.
"I have been eagerly anticipating this day, and I am overjoyed to finally receive a laptop. My heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav; this is a momentous occasion for me," stated Mishra Gurjar, who attained 95.4 percent marks in 12th grade. Another high-achieving student, Nikita Verma, emphasized the importance of continuing this program, as it motivates students to strive for academic excellence.
"I won't need to urge my father to buy me a laptop anymore. I am grateful to CM Yadav for this opportunity," said Nikita.
It is noteworthy that out of the students selected in the meritorious category, 60 percent were girls, while 40 percent were boys.
During his address to the students, Chief Minister Yadav remarked, "This is an encouraging indication that girls are making significant strides in academics. Boys must now rise to the challenge."
This initiative is part of the state's broader commitment to promoting digital literacy and fostering higher education aspirations among the youth. Since its inception in 2009–10, the 'Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan' program has benefitted over 4.3 lakh students, disbursing more than Rs 1,080 crore in total.
Last year, 89,710 students received financial aid under this scheme. The 2025 iteration signifies a major expansion in both the number of beneficiaries and the allocated budget.
According to official sources, the scheme caters to both regular and self-taught students from government and recognized private institutions.
